This project has an open ended exemption of the anti-dumping laws (signed by Trudeau) allowing any amount of Chinese steel to be used on it. The exemption was for the original project but carries over to this extension because it's open ended in every way (time wise and amount wise).
The open ended exemption allows this project to be used to clandestinely import Chinese steel into Canada tariff free and then re-sell it in Canada or the US. This is the kind of stuff the US is legitimately concerned with both from Canada and Mexico. Mexico is in the process of capitulating on it. Carney is in the process of bankrupting Canada over it.
LNG is a very delicate industry due to the high pressures involved. Substandard materials could result in dangerous accidents..
It is totally orange man’s fault that we are shuttering our steel industry and laying people off. There is definitely no way we can solve this problem domestically.
