Carney Calgary anti-independence rally

People over 65 should simply be disqualified from politics. No voting no running for office no campaigning for others. You shouldn't be allowed to partake of decision making for things you won't be alive to see to the end.

Every person there gives no fucks for anybody or anything beyond their next pension payment and doctor's appointment.

Every single person there could keel over of a heart attack and the world would only improve.

The current situation is a bit of an inversion of how things have been historically. The older generations on their way out have always done what is generally in the best interest of the society in which they lived. Even most Roman emperors were afraid to screw things up too much because they knew that if they did, they would tarnish their legacy and might even be erased from history (have all references to them destroyed or vandalized). It is no accident that Nero is known as a horrible emperor until this day. Subsequent emperors sought to gain favour from the people by undoing much of what he did. Nero very much seems to embody a modern leader. He built himself a palace on the ruins of a poor neighbourhood that burned down. This seems like exactly they kind of stuff a lot of the modern, so-called leaders, have tried in Hawaii and California when neighbour hoods burned there.

It seems that, modern boomers, especially those in Canada, are spoiled. They never built-up the society they live in. Were just handed everything. And expect just to get stuff. They don't seem to understand the concept of giving back. And because they have had it so easy and are soft, most can't break out of the fake propaganda reality created for them by the people in charge. At some level they might know that what they are being feed is not real, but it would be too painful to break out of it and confront the truth. A truth that contradicts their world view of: You are a good person for believing the approved media and supporting the approved people in power. All societal problems are solved by daddy government so you don't have to lift a finger to do anything other than support said government without question. They hold on to their world view not because they believe it to be true but because it allows them to, in their mind, be a good person without doing anything. It also alleviates their conscience as they look around and see how the next generation is being screwed over by their decisions. However, because the mainstream media and their world view says they actually tried to help the poor and next generation by voting for the Liberal party of Canada., they actually did everything they could, so nothing bad is actually their fault and they do not need to take responsibility for anything. They did all they could except, of course, actually looking into what is true, what should be done, and doing it despite the fact that it may be more difficult for them. That would be a step to far.

In the end though, the system will turn on them first. It has shown it does not want to support the entitled freeloaders that created it. It does still need them for their votes, but that is being solved. For example, health care in Canada is failing, and other than Quebec, you are legally barred from seeking private options within your province. Therefore, if they refuse to treat you, you either escape to the US and try to get treated there or you die. But long before that, you will be offered MAID. If you reject it the first time, do not worry, you will be offered it several more times, until maybe in a moment of weakness, realizing that you're not going to get treatment anyways, and you're now to weak to travel to the US for treatement, you accept. And system you supported ends you, never having cared about you at all. It used you all the while you thought you were using it.

This issue isn't that people over 65 years old can vote, it's that people are allowed to use government to promote their own interests at the expense of others. Trying to restrict suffrage to prevent this from happening won't work. You ban people over 65 from voting then maybe all of a sudden we get a reverse situation where the young people are oppressing the old.

What we need is a constitution that restrict's government's power in specific areas. Taxes should be capped at a 15% consumption tax for all levels of government along with discretion on trade. Income taxes should be illegal at a constitutional level. A constitution should make resource reallocation except in cases of national security illegal. A government cannot provide social programs as this is a reallocation of resources but it can provide welfare to soldiers since that's in the interests of national security. CPP should be illegal.

If you take away taxes and social programs at a constitutional level, nearly every problem caused by boomers goes away without having to take people's vote away.

I have to wonder, how many of those people are actually originally from Alberta and how many are boomers who recently moved from other parts of Canada.

There are generally 2 kinds of people who move into Alberta:
1. Those who don't like what is happening with Canada and see Alberta as the better option for trying to survive within Canada. These people will generally vote to leave Canada.
2. Those who fully support what is happening in Canada but still moved to Alberta rather than staying where what they supported is bearing fruit. Reasons for why they might have done this are:
  • Sell their overpriced house in Ontario and buy a better house in Alberta for less, pocketing the difference.
  • Alberta seems to have more job openings than the rest of Canada. This is especially in certain sectors which are being phased out elsewhere.
  • Maybe they don't like how their part of Canada has been enriched and have realized that they have to get out while they can and while their house is still worth something before their neighbourhood becomes a slum. But they will still vote to support the policy that created that problem and officially they would never criticize what is happening.

If I didn't see it for myself, I would never have guessed that there are a surprising amount of people in Alberta right now from category 2 above. Like locusts, they destroy everything where they are, as much as they can, and move on to new ground to repeat the process.

It’s astounding how many Toronto people have come to Calgary because they can sell their Toronto house, buy a larger new build in Calgary for cash, mom can stay home, and dad’s commute down town is only 35 minutes.

When I was in Alberta, I saw about an equal amount of category 1 and 2 people but you're missing another category: people who don't really support what's going on in Canada but also don't really oppose it. I like to call these people PP Conservatives. These are people who come to Alberta, usually for work and because they like the politics in Alberta but they aren't willing to do what is necessary to solve the problems in Canada. I know a guy from out East who grew up in a small town and was very conservative. He moved to Alberta for work and now makes close to $300k/yr. His girlfriend makes like $200k/yr. He always votes conservative and was a strong PP supporter. If Alberta left Canada and/or became a part of the USA he would significantly benefit but because he already earns so much money and has a great lifestyle, he opposes any significant change because he doesn't want to take any risk that his current lifestyle might be negatively impacted so he's against Alberta leaving Canada and/or becoming part of the USA. He doesn't support what's going on in Canada but he doesn't really oppose it either.

You know who I hate? Babies. Those little fuckers. So entitled. They get everything. They don't work. They don't even have to buy their own food. Do you know how much I pay for mine? They should just die. Fuck those young, stupid babies.

Geez, that does feel great. Shitting on helpless, oblivious people feels great. Lumping them all into a group and assigning all the worst attributes I can think of to them is fantastic. I'm soooo superior to babies. What an endorphine rush. Who's with me? ; )
