The National Post has published several opinion pieces and news articles in 2026 discussing the British Columbia government's negotiations to transfer public land in Victoria to Indigenous groups, specifically the Te’Mexw Treaty Association, which represents five First Nations including the Songhees First Nation.

Indians dramatically over-exaggerate the land they actually held. In their telling, they owned all the land they hunted on and traveled through. In practice, they had little collections of huts which were all, every one of them, under a kilometer in size. If you mention actual population survey results taken at the time of settlement the so-called academics will actually throw hissy fits. Practically nobody was living in the region, and certainly not much of the interior at all.

This is on top of Indians not believing in fixed property rights whatsoever. How ironic that we choose to honor such fictions

At the time of colonization the three Maritime provinces, with a combined size twice that of Ireland, had a population of just 20,000 hunter-gatherer Natives. Visit the Maritimes today and you'll notice that (with the partial exception of PEI, which was opened up to agriculture by Europeans and their descendants) the provinces are mostly still untamed wilderness, and yet we're expected to believe that every square foot of this wilderness was owned by Natives who somehow had a special spiritual relationship with it. This is far and away one of the greatest scams in human history
 
If you spend your time clamouring over tiny BC First Nations projects getting attention your focus is diverted from the Liberal Government. Don’t you see that or do you just ignore that fact? You’re being punched in the face by same old Divide and rule tactic of fight each other, not us
 
Why is it that whenever anyone on this forum complains about Native overreach you're here trying to divert our attention away from it? Yes, obviously the Liberals are ultimately to blame for the ongoing attempt to chop our country up into little indigenous fiefdoms, but do you hear any Native leaders publicly complaining about it?

I’m understating maybe but mostly agree with you. The Balkanization of Canada is a few years out. Who can come to any conclusion about who or what companies will mostly benefit from it though?

If BC cannot be reformed some citizens might set their hopes that the Canadian Government (In some jurisdictions) will be replaced. For better or worse.

I just recently learned that CSIS was alarmed by Tsawwassen FN leasing their land to Chinese investors. It seemed obvious to me that BC Aboriginal land claims would be used to attract foreign investment when it first went public.
 
There is FN’s I have met who practically believe that all of Canada inherently belongs to them, “This is my land” — As a Métis I scoffingly agree but take a more balanced approach. The resources should just be shared more evenly and not be arrogantly hoarded by Ottawa. Do BC Aboriginal claims benefit me? No, but it was amusing to watch at first glance

Besides, I have no filial relations to the Native Tribes in BC.
Any work or trade benefits available to us are with the same plains tribes we traded with a century ago. Competition is fierce even among close relations.

What this means in practice is that five percent of the population would get a 50-50 split of resources with the remaining ninety-five percent, and meanwhile the elites will surrender absolutely nothing of their own

I don't find it "amusing" to see private property rights in this country being slowly abolished for racial reasons. I see it as a harbinger of future civil war
 
Not tiny, 800,000 hectare is a large swath given to the taltan tribe. The key is in the mineral rights to those areas and china even admitted to dealing with the indians directly for resources. You see the natives can strip mine bc away and it wont look bad on the bc government, but they are dead wrong. Native greed will be the downfall of our faltering economy and only exasperate the current brain drain.

Enjoy your third world country.

Oh and proof you ask for?
