SHOOTING -- (Shots fired at a trailer park)

RCMP respond to 'serious incident' in Maple Ridge

The Maple Ridge RCMP says it was on the scene of a "serious incident" in Maple Ridge Tuesday evening.

...several police officers in what appears to be a trailer park. As well, images appear to show emergency responders with weapons drawn. Emergency vehicles can be seen outside a nearby hotel, and at least one helicopter was visible above the scene. It isn’t clear if the helicopter or emergency vehicles were related to the shots-fired report.

UPDATE - (One person injured)

RCMP members promptly responded to the scene and located a 32-year-old male victim who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to hospital in serious condition but is expected to survive.

Maple Ridge is only 15 minutes from Surrey

Arrest made following Maple Ridge shooting: RCMP

RCMP in Maple Ridge have announced they have arrested a man in connection with the shooting that happened on Tuesday evening.

The 44-year-old was taken into custody on Thursday, say police.
RCMP say that the man who was arrested was known to police.
The victim of the shooting continues to remain in hospital.
...he shooting came from an altercation between the suspect and victim, as they were known to each other.

Man dies after police shooting at shopping centre in North Vancouver

British Columbia's police watchdog says officers in Metro Vancouver shot and killed a man after he tried to get into a police vehicle and there was a confrontation.

...police found him at a gas station at the mall.
...the man tried to get into an unoccupied police vehicle
...[officers] deploy a conducted energy weapon and fire shots.

North Vancouver is a 45 minute drive from Surrey (on a good traffic day)
