Peel school pushed pro-Hijab book on elementary kids

Parent says school newsletter obscured the book’s religious focus and questions whether five-year-olds can critically understand religious and cultural symbolism.

An elementary school participated in a Peel board school-wide read-aloud of “The Proudest Blue,” a children’s book celebrating a young girl’s first experience wearing a hijab.

A parent who contacted Juno News said they are concerned children as young as five were introduced to what they described as highly politicized and religiously loaded symbolism through discussions of “identity,” “belonging,” and “empathy,” without parents being clearly informed beforehand.

The parent asked to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals. They said they have not raised the issue with the school because they fear it “may negatively affect” their child.

When they’re not grooming them to be trans, they’re grooming them to submit.

New Punjabi language initiative at Peden Hill Elementary

Students at Peden Hill Elementary School in Prince George are speaking up after an Punjabi language program gained attention online.

Many children in class are unable to speak Punjabi with their grandparents, while the grandparents often do not speak English. In such a situation, learning our mother tongue is very important so we can communicate with our family,” said Manvansh Singh Sidhu.

...the program is about more than learning a language — it is about strengthening family bonds.

“The most basic need is connection within the family, and language plays a key role in that. If we cannot communicate properly, it is not the children’s fault — it is because they were not taught the language,” Saini said.
