There is zero reason for the UCP, which has a majority government, to wait until another 100,000 or more migrants arrive in Alberta to ask permission

It's almost like the UCP wants the referendum to fail or something, gee golly.....

Not fail ...

When it succeeds it gives the UCP more clout because the people are behind them. When the UCP were elected the mmmgration issue wasnt a policy / issue they ran on. This would give the UCP the ability to make the case legally without the MSM and Feds saying they are dictators or tyrants and to put in the action required. It is the optics the UCP need and that are neccessary. We know there will be fookery once seperation is requested via the referendum but this maneuver gives us / Alberta the ability to do what is neccessary.

Also think military when can the military act?? Law of war??

They don't need the military to put this down.

Feds will just get ahold of the list of signatures and threaten the people who signed with freeze/seizure of assets. They will dress it up as the penalty for 'sedition'. Why bother with bullets when they can just de-bank people? They already did a dry run of this at the convoy, you don't think Carney won't pull that trick again? All he has to do is his 'Elbows Up' routine and 80% of this stupid nation will be eating out of his hand (including millions of Albertans)

Laws are just words on paper, they can be (and are often) ignored at will. (See the Charter of Rights and Freedoms)

You can't use the system they created to vote your way to freedom. When the Americans wanted independence, they needed an army (and a war) to make that happen.

Most Albertans that I know haven't even boycotted Tim Hortons yet, so I think the sacrifice required is a long way off.

@brutana_dilewski Your points are valid in my opinion... now if you think the USA does not need Alberta and Sask's oil, gas, coal, fertilizer and uranium as a national security issue you have not been paying attention to Venezuela and Iran, etc. ... bingo bango bongo when needed a capable military is at the ready

@DisobeyTyranny

I don't doubt for a second that the USA cares about natural resources in Alberta. What I am very concerned about is this assumption that the USA actually cares about the rights and freedoms of Albertans.

We don't like the way Canada is running but we are too demoralized/weak/soft/comfortable to actually do what is necessary (like what the Americans did back in the 1770's) As such, I completely understand why some people would prefer the Americans to come and 'liberate' them from the tyranny of the Feds.

Other people think we can have a vote and the tyrants will just accept the result (to me this is even more ridiculous than the American liberation option) How many times has it been said that 'you can't vote your way out of communism'?

The problem is that neither of these solutions seem viable - trading one overlord for another seems like a really bad idea, considering how much more capable Washington is than Ottawa is.

I feel for the MAGA folks - Trump basically abandoned them with this warmongering and failure to deliver on his mass deportation promises. As such I expect the Democrats to win the next election and I definitely don't want them running any part of Canada. AIPAC doesn't care though, they fund both sides.

If we take a serious look at ourselves it becomes clear that we would rather stay comfortable than sacrifice for our childrens' future. It would be so much nicer if we could vote our way to freedom or farm out that task to the Americans. It's still a Darwinian world out there, survival of the fittest. We are not the fittest. We might be the fattest though.

Info is interesting and notable. Lots of good information in the video that is spot on and some questionable. More good info then bad.

No need to deal with Ottawa or the Injuns once Alberta leaves or joins the USA. Like what realistically can Canada or the Injuns do? Other than make threats? Economically it would be better if Alberta left even having to start things fresh like Military etc.. Canada will never let Alberta develop their full potential.

BC under the Law of the Sea will have no choice but to allow Alberta to use their ports.
