Church deacon charged with sexual assault

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged a 48-year-old male with sexual assault and sexual interference in relation to a November 2025 incident.

At the time of the incident, the male was a deacon at a church near 121 Avenue and 103 Street.
Frezghi Zerezghi, 48, was arrested on Dec. 12, 2025, and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. Zerezghi was released on an undertaking.

Police have reason to believe he may have offended against other victims and are encouraging them to come forward.


Anyone who believes they or their child may have been victimized by the accused is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service

"Sexual interference" always makes me think of cockblocking ("I started making out with that girl, but her fat friend sexually interfered"). Why do they always make sex charges sound as vague as possible?
