Why do you say that? I figure the way things are heading either our currency collapses or we end up being a territory for them anyway. I don’t see the downside to having a reserve of US cash. Interested to hear your thoughts on it

@DisobeyTyranny see that’s the rub in regards to metals. I agree, there is a possibility they would outlaw private ownership of bullion. However, there’s no feasible way they could outlaw metals in the form of jewellery and with that comes possibilities and loopholes. You got to have the metal though

Fiat currency loses value every year thanks to quantitative easing. It has no intrinsic value so if you are looking to store wealth long term, assets like precious metals are far superior.

@brutana_dilewski yes but cash is more liquid and it would be silly not to have a reserve of it ready to use. Fiat or not it’s what’s accepted right now. Which makes me ask what’s the more stable currency? CAD or USD. For myself, I would theoretically have a couple thousand of each tucked away for a “just in case”
To be clear though I am not arguing with you. fiat is fake and gay along with everything else that doesn’t have a practical use or tangible value. If we’re down to the point of reshaping coins and bars into rings and pendants, we’re in a bad way.

I think you’re talking more about long term projections assuming no collapse and I’m talking more, this is a possible scenario and this is what I’d do in the event that the law changes in order to squeeze us of any wealth we do have.

Kek, I remember this. A buddy did some travelling. Once past customs they just walked out. Only person following up on him was some teenager checking some boxes. He just convinced them to go home as no one was double checking if the teen was visiting homes.

This when I realized pretty much the only thing government has is fear and financial punishment which they barely reach for.
