The difference is that many on the left don’t have principles. Their positions can change from day to day depending on what’s useful at the moment. What stays constant is the end goal they want. Unfortunately, morals and empathy is a weapon they use against the right. Hell they may love Moe tomorrow then call him a POS the next.
