Surrey Police are BIG MAD that some victims are starting to shoot back by returning gunfire. (post from last week: https://freecanada.win/threads/35033/post-469398 )
more details
...investigators are now looking into whether one or more people inside the residence “carelessly” fired weapons during the incident.
...the alleged shootings both show a “blatant disregard for neighbours and public safety.”
“Police absolutely do not condone or support vigilantism and taking the matter into your own hands. And using weapons such as firearms puts everybody in the community at risk.”
So self defense is called "vigilantism" now?

Ok SPS, what is the actual protocol if someone does start shooting at your house, while you are in it, with your spouse and children?
What are we supposed to do? Close the living room curtains? Hide in the bathroom, lock the door?
What if we do have a licensed firearm in the house? What if we happen to have ANY type of firearm in the house?
Why don't you offer these suggestions to the media during your press release?

If I had a firearm, and someone started shooting at me, I'd be 100% shooting back, protecting me and mine.

This lawyer warns about protecting yourself
He says he understands that people want to defend themselves and their property, but cautions against fighting back, adding that it could lead to criminal charges.
“It could lead to all sorts of firearms charges. If people were hit, it could lead to assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, careless use of a firearm, that type of stuff.”
“It’s probably not shocking that we’re now seeing ... taking matters into their own hands and potentially shooting back and arming themselves..."
...he wouldn’t be surprised if suspected or confirmed ‘return fire’ happens again.
Hmmm.... so we would have to choose between "firearm charges" and possible death/maiming/paralysis/colostomy bag/etc.
I wonder what this lawyer would to do under a similar situation?

It used to be I didn't worry about driving down the street, because the bullets are only flying in one direction: away from the street. Now I gotta be careful, because bullets are going to start flying towards the street, too.

Finally, the police are doing something...

Spoiler: they're just looking at pictures and watching videos (probably with a bag of chips and a box of donuts on their laps?).
My expectations for results to end the shootings are pretty low . But I have high expectations that a lot more shootings will be posted here. Stay tuned...

(update: 404'd ... wtf, I wonder why? I guess I need to start archiving each url now)

(now we know why the url in the above post got 404'd - can't have 2 contradicting statements side-by-side.)
Assistant Commissioner John Brewer fired back at a reporter who characterized recent events ... as “shootings galore.”
He called for the media to “be fair” and report on the work police are doing.
Extortion investigations are complex...
Surrey Police Service is looking into whether someone inside a Bear Creek-area home fired back during a shooting incident... Brewer strongly advised against doing this.
“When someone feels that they’re so at risk they have to take the law into their own hands, here’s what I would say to them: Don’t. You’re risking harm to yourself, but to others. Let the police do their job,” he said.
As a police officer, Brewer said, he is trained and responsible for “every single bullet” that leaves his gun. “That’s my that’s my job, and I’ve been trained to do that. I don’t know if anybody else has been trained to do that,” Brewer said.
RCMP Assistant Commissioner John Brewer also does not want to suggest what protocol to follow when John Public starts getting shot at with a firearm. C'mon, this isn't hard. Just tell us!
Even Toronto Police advised residents to "don't resist, and leave your car keys by the door, easily accessible for the thieves"

How long is this training? Days? Weeks? Or can we all just take it, for a small fee, on a Saturday afternoon? Would we then be allowed to protect ourselves by returning fire?
If not, WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU EVEN SAY THAT??? For the love of God already, please ask them to provide a suggestion on how to "legally" proceed when someone starts shooting at Joe Citizen's house or business!

Not a crisis? Is it because they are jeets and do not want to sound racist? If it was Whites doing this it would ne called a crisis and they would be pulling out all the stops.

They leave Palestine protesters (and injun ones too when they block rail or roads) alone even when block traffic yet if you have bouncy castles, collect food for food banks, have a very peaceful gathering you get horse stomped....

“tone-deaf, outrageous and insulting”

“We are absolutely in a crisis right now in Surrey,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “This is unlike anything Surrey has experienced before. Every day, I speak with residents and business owners who are living through this violence, and their fear is real and constant.”
On Wednesday (Jan. 21), she sent a letter to the federal Public Safety Minister, Gary Anandasangaree, requesting that he appoint a national extortion commissioner.
“This role should have the authority to examine the obvious gaps in our criminal, immigration, and citizenship systems and lead a national response that actually stops these crimes from happening,” Locke said.
“Our laws are simply too weak. Canadian law enforcement tools are not enough to protect the public from the magnitude of extortion and violence we are experiencing. Surrey is entering the third year of this crisis. We need strong federal leadership to protect Canadian communities and restore public confidence.”
Coun. Mandeep Nagra said: “What a disgraceful thing to say.”
“The truth finally came out,” Nagra said. “Extortion shootings are getting worse because the RCMP Extortion Task Force doesn’t even consider this a crisis. Until this is treated like a crisis, it will never be brought under control.”
“Until extortion is officially declared a crisis and treated as one, it will keep getting worse,” he said. “Enough excuses. Enough denial. Surrey deserves real action, not bureaucratic indifference.”

...the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) is investigating 111 foreign nationals who may be inadmissible to Canada for offences under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
“Making a refugee claim does not exempt lawbreakers from the consequences of their actions,” he said in front of reporters.
“CBSA continues to aggressively pursue the removal of extortionists attempting to evade justice by abusing Canadians concerned for genuine refugees in need of protection.”
...at least the [35] publicly reported extortion incident in Surrey in the first 19 days of 2026.
Update: MSM has removed some details from the article. You can view them in the archive. I'll create another snapshot when archive allows it (in 24 hours?)
Edit: it's a 1 hour wait before creating a new snapshot.

Head of BC task force, Assistant Commissioner John Brewer, issued an apology, saying he did not mean to call into question the force’s commitment to the task. Surrey Mayor and BC Premier still mad

Surrey Councilor playing the "race" card

... didn’t use the word ‘crisis’ to describe the wave of extortion.
Surrey City Coun. Mandeep Nagra is among those who are offended by Brewer’s refusal to use the word.
Nagra feels that if the extortions did not predominantly involve South Asians, police would take it seriously.
“I’m very disappointed with the comments from Mr. John Brewer. Maybe this is why he said what he said. Maybe he thinks this isn’t a Canadian problem, this is an Indo-Canadian problem, maybe he does not consider the City of Surrey… or an Indo-Canadian community as part of the Canadian community,” said Nagra.

Premier Eby still mad, regardless of apology
archived: https://archive.today/uOxTL
“I’ll speak bluntly if, if Mr. Brewer does not feel that urgency, does not feel that this is a crisis, then perhaps he’s not the right person to head up this task force,” Eby said. “The reason we established this task force with the Canadian Border Services Agency, the RCMP, with local police of jurisdiction, the Surrey Police, was to respond to a crisis.”

Former cop (now an MLA) shares her thoughts on the non-crisis
archived: https://archive.today/uOxTL
“I was disturbed to hear almost a combative response from assistant commissioner Brewer when members of the media, I think correctly, characterized what is going on in Surrey as a crisis.”
She said the city has nearly a shooting per day now, if both extortion-related and other crimes are counted.
“If that’s not a crisis, I don’t know what is,”
“We’ve had reports of people firing back, people are paying, what does it take for it to be a crisis?”
Sturko also stressed that people shooting back and and exchanging gunfire and partaking in vigilantism, is “extraordinarily dangerous”
Sturko heard of residents applying for gun licenses just to defend themselves and their families.
“If we’ve already gotten to the point where we allegedly have someone firing back, bullets flying in both directions in a neighborhood, what does it take for that level of seriousness to be placed on the problem?”
Elanor Sturko criticizes self defense and calling it vigilantism, while also refusing to offer a suggestion on how to proceed when you start getting shot at.

So all it takes for all these faggots to admit there's a problem is for some guy to downplay it?
Too bad their virtue signalling only lasts a few days at most.
At least the jeet admitted it's a jeet problem.
