Saturday morning drip coffee FIASCO

I made some coffee this morning as is tradition, and I thought I’d treat myself to a single use bag of fancy coffee I got for Christmas. When I read the instructions the bag said it was to make 8-10 cups of coffee but when I poured it into the filter it was way more coffee than I would put for even a 12 cup brew.

When I make my morning brew I always put one scoop of grounds for every 2 cups of coffee, IE if I make a 10 cup brew I put 5 scoops of grounds into it, am I normal? What ratio do you guys do?

Also any suggestions to a coffee and carolans ratio? My first cup is always just a dash for taste but my third cup is a healthy 1:1 to limber me up for the dogs morning walk.

booze to coffee ratio should be at least 3/4 booze by the third cup.

for plain coffee i typically do a heaping half cup for a full pot. so, like 4.5-5 oz of coffee, by volume. give or take.

*ETA - ai overview says about 2T per 6oz water, more if you like it stronger.

I brew a 12 cup pot in my coffee maker on one heaping scoop. That seems excessive or maybe I'm under dosing. I don't feel like my coffee should be any stronger.

I’m more confused than when I created this @Chobes what on earth are you using to scoop? And ounces? Where the fuck did ounces come from? This is what I mean by one scoop for every two cups

i think those little coffee scoops are 2Tablespoons each, or 1 ounce. or 28-30grams

so depending how strong you want your coffee, i'd say, one scoop/per cup (8oz or 250ml of water)...so. just make it your normal way, if thats how you like it - 1 scoop/2c. coffee...unless its a weird flavoured coffee, then it can be kind of fucky.

I do 4 heaping scoops with one of those for a standard size carafe, like the one in the picture. Right or wrong, that’s what the household is used to. With small adjustments based on certain coffee brands that I’ve just internalized over the years.

For science I just measured out a heaping scoop and it was 4 tbsp. Theres n9 markings on the scoop, I think it just came in a can of Folgers. I'll fill the coffee maker anywhere from 10 to 12 cups of water.

That’s some weak coffee at 12 cups…2 1/2 scoops would be your bare minimum. However if you like it then you’re saving a lot of money over the rest of us

10 cups in a drip coffee maker use about 8-10 tablespoons (not heaping). If you’re really into it I recommend a scale…but about 1 tbsp per cup store bought grind is normal.

For that spoon you’ll want one heaping scoop, so it’ll look like a little mound..that’s about a 1 tablespoon

Edit: just noticed your white scooper..those are 99% of the time 2-tablespoons

Mennonite. We both are, but I'm from a "liberal" Mennonite family. Liberal as in "it's Christmas, let's put up a Christmas tree", while my wife's side of family is kinda like "Christmas trees are pagan and therefore devil worship".

Mennonites are mostly cool with technology. Though there are more conservative.fsmilies who try to limit the use. There are also Hutterites (and like 99.9999% of people wouldn't be able to explain the difference between a Mennonite and a Hutterite) which live on colonies and only use technology for business, but privately don't. No TVs, no Internet and so on ...

@RightOfSask the Russian Mennonites that I came up with they don’t do internet or TV in the house. Smart phones just recently were accepted but they all have to download an app that is basically a filter for anything not approved

I was in La Crete as a kid. They have these boats in an open air Mennonite museum.

But yeah, Mennonites come in different kinds. From the "Amish light" to "Toronto liberal". I grew up somewhere in between. My parents had a TV, computer and everything. But I had to go to Sunday school until I was baptized and had to learn German so that I could understand what they are saying in church. My wife on the other hand is from a more conservative background.

10 cups o coffee equal 2 heaping table spoons for me and i feel fine and good

12 cups equals 3 table spoons. I never consume less then 10 a day so o dont know those ratios

No but for real, so when you make a pot of coffee can you see through the carafe when it’s full? That’s basically how I judged my coffee as a young bachelor starting out, the liquid had to be black. Not sure I remember how I fell into the one scoop for every two cups routine but that’s basically how I can remember always doing it

My carafe is insulated so i cant see the coffee i just know what to add by how much water i put in the water chamber. On days i know i need more pick up i add more grounds.

I really like coffee it makes me feel good. It also helps me fight evil in the www in in my office
