@RightOfSask: "We should trust the truth sayer Putin and his word that he will never attack Europe"
He won't fucking attack Europe because he can't fucking win. Are you even listening to what I am saying, or is just easier for you to pretend that I'm a dupe or a stooge of the Kremlin?
"Just as he promised that Crimea will be forever Ukrainian"
Crimea was part of Russia for most of its modern history, is full of Russian speakers, and has had a vital Russian naval base for two centuries. Putin would have been a damn fool
not to have annexed it once the US State Department decided to spend $5 billion on a "colour revolution" to install a Western-friendly puppet regime in Kiev. He was clearly afraid of losing the naval base, and with it Russia's only outlet to the Mediterranean, at a time when NATO was expanding ever closer to its borders. From the perspective of
realpolitik this makes perfect sense, just as it makes perfect sense that the US never surrendered its base at Guantanamo Bay after the Cuban Revolution installed a hostile government in that country.
"Also Putin and Russia won't be fighting alone against the West."
That's speculative, but if Russia and China ever decide to tag-team in an
offensive war against the West (i.e., instead of merely defending themselves from Western meddling in their geopolitical backyard), the CCP will be too tied up with Taiwan, Japan and possibly also South Korea, Vietnam and the Philippines to send its troops 6000 miles to fight in Europe
