@RightOfSask you know they mean they can pick anyone at random like they do for checks? They're not going to check every single person.

So yes at random you may be picked what type of visa you're coming in on and they may check your social media just like the TSA does now when they want to ask you extra questions which actually happened to me when I was coming into Canada once I was pulled aside and had to do an extra interview before I was let in.

I think the USA gets a decent snap shot of if your anti american and hate the usa by doing so. I think its smart and will keep the invaders out that arent there for any reason other then trouble or worse then trouble.

Midterms are coming up and the way demoncrats enroll people who fly to the usa to vote its double smart. This is securing the midterms in my opinion as well as having other uses

This is stupid and I'll be surprised if it actually goes into effect. Asking for social media history for a Canadian who wants to visit for a weekend is downright absurd.

And if someone is coming here with ill intentions, they simply wouldn't disclose their accounts. And then what?

People here go to the USA for gas and groceries etc more so when our peso is higher. Sometimes huge long lineups at the various border crossings on weekends and long weekends. Sometimes close to a couple hour wait on really busy days/times. It would be almost literally a whole day or more if they check everyone's social media plus the passengers.

Same at airports when you go through US customs before you get on plane to US. How many hours early now will you have to arrive?

This will hurt tourism if it goes through and probably 'kill off' border towns that are already struggling due to tariffs and low Canadian rupee...

This would be a real stupid move. There is so many coming into the US everyday for business or tourism they will not ne able to check everyone's social media in a timely fashion.

It's easy to sell globohomo to conservatives if you pretend that there's some moralistic reason for it. Just look at all the Fox News fans cheering and whooping as Venezuelan boats are blown out of the water ("they FAFOd, ha ha!!") or running damage control for Israel's massacres of civilians in Gaza ("that's what ya get for supporting Hamas!!") They'll also happily embrace an extensive regime of surveillance and censorship in their own country if told "it's for the children" or "to keep the terrorists from winning"

@d01tg0d0wn: 1) there's no guarantee that these are all or even mostly drug smugglers -- we just have the White House's word for that and 2) the US would scream bloody murder if Americans overseas were being executed without trial on the mere supposition that they committed a crime.

And remember, anything the US government does elsewhere in the world can just as easily be done at home using the same plea of necessity -- would you be as keen on boats being blown out of the water if they were smuggling across the St. Lawrence River?

Someone is destroying undersea www cables to get nations enraged. The EU seized yahts from Russian oligarchs and they will spend the money they seized.

The usa is doing nothing that the other nations arent doing but they are doing one thing the other nations arent they are actually harming the things harming us. They are stopping the drugs. They are stoping the free flow of money that is clearly not legitimate.

If u think those are fishing boats and those people piloting them are the good guys well then i also have some FCW shares i want to sell you

Venezuala is much more then i think anyone understands but think China and Iran then look into the belt and road as well as other supply routes feeding China

They've already set the precedent.

In any case, as I've already mentioned 1) most fent isn't coming into the US from Venezuela anyway and 2) none of that poison would be coming into the US at all if it weren't for extensive demand for it from ordinary Americans; it's reminiscent of the endless Chinese whining over the Opium Wars -- well look Chang, nobody forced you pick up that pipe in the first place
 
No clue how they would even be able to verify this

then again, so many people using their real names on these things makes me cry, they used to teach kids not to use their real name online, especially when looking at their (censored for human decency)
