(Ottawa) —The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is seeking the public’s help in identifying four suspects involved in a fraud investigation.
Between April and September 2025, the suspects engaged in bank investigator scams in the Central and West ends of the city. These incidents are believed to be similar but not necessarily related.
During the scams, the scammer phoned the victim, claiming to be from a financial institution that had caught suspicious activities in his bank accounts. The scammer instructed the victims to cut up his/her debit and credit cards and provide them in an envelope to a courier who would attend the victim’s residence.
The victims stayed on the phone with the suspect until the “courier” picked up the cards.
The victims later noticed unfamiliar charges in their accounts.
Suspect descriptions:
- Suspect 1 is described as an Eastern African woman in her early 20s. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a headdress.
- Suspects 2 and 3 are described as East Indian men in their mid-20s, with slim builds and moustaches.
- Suspect 4 is described as a Black man in his early 20s, unshaven and wearing hooded sweatshirts.
