This is why I wear a poppy

Holy shit that was heartbreaking and madding that they try to cut him off fast. I wish he could speak more clearly but the fact is he can even speak at all of that age that's great still.

That's a powerful fucking message Man. Can't wait for the UK to arrest him for hate speech.

No, that is why I support veterans.

In Canada, the poppy is trademarked by The Legion.

The Legion prefers Drag Time over Veterans, here is an event they had at a Legion, while not allowing a veteran who was on a freedom march.

Plus, does anyone remember when the unvaccinated weren't welcome? I do. We weren't even allowed at the ceremonies.

I'm all for veterans, I am one. But fuck the legion, so fuck the poppy.

I absolutely recall being unwelcome when I declined to share my medical info with the non-veteran Karen guarding the entrance to a Legion branch on Nov 11. I absolutely recall the silence of the Legion on the subject of keeping flags at half-mast for 6 months over imaginary genocided Indian children. I absolutely recall the Legions' treatment of James Topp, AND one of their National Executive's willingness to use his image on the cover of their 'history' book. I absolutely recall a Coquitlam BC branch having an egregiously shredded and worn Canadian flag hanging sadly from a roof mounted pole for month after month when I had to drive by for work in the area. I will not purchase their trademarked symbol, and when asked if I've 'lost my poppy", I explain my reasoning and watch their eyes glaze over - they do not want to hear it and/or can't process the info that is counter to existing programming.

this year i will look to the USA and the ceremonies and celebrations there. Maga Canadians are welcome to try to claim assylum in the USA. If Alberta isnt successful in getting away from the tyranny then that is where i will go with my family and see if they will take us in. I got skills they need and same with the wife. My boys are quick learners and strong and smart. We will bleed red, white and blue if they will let us.

So there is a Remembrance Day exhibit in the lobby of the First Canadian Place office building at King and Bay, downtown Toronto. The maps are actually well done, and it is informative, but the D-Day one...Of the three "stories" highlighted, one is from a WREN and the other two: black guys. Context: in 1944 Canada, blacks comprised 0.19 percent of the population. At most, it's estimated there were 6000-7000 blacks that served in the war (out of more than one million men in uniform), and of the 14,000 at Juno Beach, perhaps a hundred or so. So of the 14,000 at D-Day, this BMO-sponsored exhibit decided that 100 percent of the soldiers' stories were from the miniscule number of black guys that were there. If you didn't know better, you would think Normandy was liberated by black men and women.

That's what it's come to: remember, but remember the way we want you to, out of all proportion to actual history and to eliminate the presence of those who did the actual fighting in the name of "diversity". You can see it in the way the CBC and other media and schools now frame Remembrance Day: emphasising the "stories" of the few black soldiers, or women, or Natives or some other micro-constituency whose "voices" were apparently "silenced" because evil white guys did the actual heavy lifting. The trees for the forest approach to histography.

This might be the last year I wear a poppy.

i wear the poppy for one day only. the same one i keep every year. every day is remembrance day in this house.

i just cant get past what the legion has turned into.

World War One was an utterly pointless conflict that pitted the great European nations against each other and resulted in the needless slaughter of an entire generation of young white men, the bankrupting of the nations their fathers and grandfathers built, and the dismantling of their empires. European civilization could have endured for another century or three as the unchallenged world hegemon if not for that war, which was fought, just as every war since has been fought on the altar of shortsighted elitist ambition and the totalitarian impetus the wealthy feel towards a world government under their control.

I would wear a poppy as a sign of mourning for all those idealistic young white men who died, through no fault of their own, for nothing, and for the children and grandchildren they never got the chance to sire. But all anyone sees when I wear that poppy is a symbol of praise for a war that should never have taken place
