Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux announced his resignation from his role as MP for Edmonton Riverbend on Thursday, though he will not join the Liberals as previously rumoured.

Rumours began to swirl on Wednesday that Jeneroux might join former colleague Chris d’Entremont in leaving the Conservative party for the Liberals.

Jeneroux made the announcement in a statement released late Thursday, but did not elaborate on the reason for his resignation. He instead stated he hopes “to have the opportunity to address the House one final time in the future.”

“For now, my focus must turn entirely to my family and to the responsibilities that come with that,” it reads.

His resignation as an MP comes only one day after dispelling speculation that he was considering switching allegiances. He was first elected in 2015.

“I ran in the last election hopeful that Canadians would put their faith in a team led by Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives, offering a chance to change Canada’s perception in our own country and around the world. I desperately wanted to play a role in that vision,” he wrote.

Jeneroux went on to say that the result of the last general election was not the “outcome” he anticipated.

However, he added that he still holds “great admiration for the many remarkable individuals who were elected to the House of Commons — on both sides of the aisle — who continue to dedicate themselves to the betterment of our nation.”

According to a statement provided to CTV News on Wednesday, Jeneroux will not be joining the Liberals.

“Despite the rumours being circulated in Ottawa, MP Jeneroux is not crossing the floor and is remaining a member of the Conservative caucus,” it said.

Jeneroux told Conservative party whip Chris Warkentin of his plans to resign, which he said was not an “easy decision” but one he believes is the “right one.”

The Edmonton-area MP said he was “deeply grateful” to those who have reached out to express their concern for him, but also urged people “not attempt to contact my family during this time.”

The Conservatives have now lost two seats in the House of Commons in two days, bringing the Liberals one step closer to having a majority government, now only one seat short.
Carney’s got access to all that Mossad kompromot it seems.

He's quitting because pp didn't win. Pretty lame excuse. Why not ride it out for a paycheque like the rest of the Canadian conservatives? Seems like a good gig.

That’s the reason? That’s not a reason.

What a fag.

@Chobes in a way I kind of understand. Why give your life if you can do something else for a bunch of ungrateful fucking moronic Canadians.

How does this bring liberals closer to a majority their numbers are still the same. Unless he's quitting so liberal can try to win the by-election and he's being paid out.

Would be nice if all these fake Conservatives resigned. Yeah the PPC may never win a seat, but Bernier is right in saying the Conservative party is ideologically bankrupt. Needs a complete remake. Pierre, Scheer, that lesbo chick and the rest of them need to go. It's not entirely their fault considering Canadians did it to themselves. But still, drastic change is needed.

Pierre seems like a decent guy but the career politician thing turns me off. You messed up, go get a real job. He won't though because really what skills does he have? I guess he could be a political science professor but that's about it.

Alberta is getting closer and closer to leaving this shit hole

I don't live in AB, but from an outsider perspective - Calgary and Edmonton have been infested to the point where separation is never going to happen.

@brutana_dilewski Most cities in every country are like this. The reason is because it's nearly impossible to prove fraud in major urban centers and it can be explained away so easily. Comments like "it's infested with commies" as if stating the majority or near majority of citizens enjoy policies that make their lives worse brings legitimacy to the fraud.

The reality is that the Communist's policies are widely unpopular all around the globe and have been since they really started making their global moves at the beginning of the 20th century. If people started discussing serious topics in bars and social clubs instead of on heavily controlled and fake social media, what I'm stating would be very apparent.

The strange "consensus" that everyone seems to have accepted that living in a city turns you into a retard that votes for dumb shit is, itself, dumb and false. It's lies, and the point is to make you think that you're in the minority when, in fact, we are the overwhelming majority. And it works.

No, the reason why is because that's where most Canadians are concentrated, and urban dwellers tend to be the most domesticated. Most people have no idea what's going on. They think the government is their friend. They talk about Canada like it's 2002 and they will have their CPP when they retire. The older folk won't shut up about Trump. My own father in law gets his 'news' from Jon Stewart ffs. I hear it all the time, and yes I live in a major city. They all wore their masks, took the shot and talk about 'climate change' as if it were a real threat to human existence. One of my very close friends made sure his kids and wife didn't get the poke, but he himself rolled up his sleeve to keep his job. I don't know whether to criticize his cowardice or commend his bravery.

I have had the arguments with them. I have tried to explain to them that when we fill our country with foreigners, we will lose our nation. I get blank stares or stupid arguments "we owe it to these poor refugees" The reality is most Canadians live a low resolution existence. This is similar across the Anglosphere.

They don't have to cheat to win elections in the cities. Twenty years ago it would have been rare to see a flock of hijabs or a pack of Africans. Now they are everywhere. I don't see very many 'Canadians' anymore. There are 15 subcontinentals packed in a half-duplex down the street from me. Each one of them has a car, now no one else can park on the street!

the point is to make you think that you're in the minority when, in fact, we are the overwhelming majority

^ if that's true, then why weren't there millions of people at the Freedom Convoy? I will tell you why, because the urban folk have their heads up their asses and swallow whatever their favourite idiot on late night TV tells them.

We are losing this battle - even if every old-stock Canadian became based overnight, the immigrant children outnumber our children. There will be no mercy for them. Our kids and grandkids will know what it's like to die a horrible death. I suggest you prepare accordingly.

@brutana_dilewski

They think the government is their friend.
Interesting. Because I too live in a city and have boomer parents and boomer in-laws and I don't see this as widespread as you make it out to be. It's a joke to most people when talking about government waste, government idiocy and terrible policy. Even the boomers complain about the government, then vote for more of it because they're retarded, I'll capitulate to that. But I don't believe boomers are the majority of active participants.

I tend to feel bad for people who were coerced to get the jab to be able to provide for their family. I don't look at them with contempt. In fact, those people are more allied with our views than you may think.

I have also talked to many regular Canadians about mass immigration and they see what's going on. They're not turning around and voting for it. You see the same things happening in every Western country. Mass immigration is wildly unpopular, causing riots and mass protests and yet the candidate that says they'll keep at it gets "voted" in, time and time again.

The fraud in our elections is obvious to me. It's fake and gay and it's obvious. Explaining it away serves no purpose but to legitimize it.

if that's true, then why weren't there millions of people at the Freedom Convoy?
Because most people are not politically active. They don't care about it, they don't vote, they don't know the issues. You've stated this already. The times they talk about things of actual value, they just regurgitate what they've heard from their shows. That's why the propaganda has invaded every aspect of television. Those are the peasants and they may as well be taken off the chess board completely when talking about these things. Your argument is the same as when people say "there's only 3000 architects and engineers for 911 truth" which automatically assumes that every other architect and engineer agrees with the official story. They don't. They're just not involved.

Also, a large portion of people who do care are busy, hard working people with families who don't have time to drive possibly thousands of kilometers for a undetermined amount of time and possibly get arrested.

People want to live their lives and vote for what will improve their situation. Unfortunately, that has been taken from them and they don't even know it. Maybe it didn't even really exist in the first place.

@FiatFallacy I live in a growing city and with the influx of invaders and consistent brainwashing especially over the last 5 years, the trust the government attitude is wide spread. They’re communists but aren’t actually aware of it.

Govern me harder daddy is the attitude of at least half of all the people in my area.

@Squishybear: Even deeply rural people are prone to the brainwashing because they consume the same media as anyone else. The only difference is that they're not as doctrinaire as urban lefties -- there's usually at least one or two issues on which they unapologetically dissent from the woke consensus, whether it be trannies or immigration or gun laws -- and they're far less likely to hate your guts or attack you verbally for expressing an opposing opinion.

Some examples among those I've met: an anti-American, pro-Ukraine, pro-illegal migrant guy who tells everyone that he thinks the Natives are spoiled crybabies; a habitual Liberal voter who complains about Indians appearing everywhere and worries that the government (that she voted for!) is coming for her guns; a Catholic church lady who hates Trump but is also anti-abortion and anti-immigration, etc. The reason why all of these people's worldviews are so highly incoherent is because rural residents are natural conservatives by instinct but the power of the talking heads on the TV is too much for them to resist

@ChevChelios Well there are a lot of city dwellers moving into rural areas and then the downfall really begins. So who really knows about who those deeply rural people are anymore. Newcomers? Oldtimers? All I know is as soon as city dwellers show up, the drama starts.

Like all the people moving out my way moaning about things like roosters crowing. At least the majority still tell them to go back to the city but it’ll change.

However I see your point because even the ones who have been here for decades and are seemingly rural, are all about the native fucks, the trannies, don’t be racist muh and all the other bs.
