Friend telling me how her son had a diploma from Fanshawe, and all I’m thinking is, ‘oh, that’s worse than useless now. Everyone knows Fanshawe is now a diploma mill’.

It's kind of sad they turned even good schools into nothing more than diploma mills. The one I worked at really did some innovative stuff and had some really good programs basically about half good programs the other half were just bullshit diploma mill garbage.

They made a killing on ESL programs.

I worked at a college for 7 years in IT. I wasn't paid shit because we weren't Union. I know a couple guys there who got let go there a few months ago. I left when they said get the shot or get put on leave.

The big wigs running the place though they didn't lose anything and abused the system for foreign students.

They can move to the US and find a new jobs there. I've heard they will get a massive influx of new international students.

Are you talking about the Chinese student thing? If so I think the Trump administration is actually backed off from that after being called out for it. At least I hope so that's a good thing they listen to their supporters if so.

aw shucks

How will we ever fill our labour shortage when students can’t be flown in from halfway across the world for ultra unique and in specialized 2 year technical degrees in ‘Business Administration’

VCC: 30 employees will receive layoff notices on Sept. 1

“Imagine you’re an international student, in whatever country, and you’ve been given the promise of a chance to get a good education in English and even perhaps Canadian citizenship, and you just had the rug pulled out from you,”
If nothing is done, Cosco says he can’t imagine how the institutions will survive.
“They’ll have to downsize even more because they can’t depend on domestic students to make up the funding gaps in the future.”
