If you go outside, it is impossible to ignore that a lot of people have new tattoos. It’s not just in your head. According to a recent Pew Research Center survey, nearly 33% of American adults today have at least one tattoo, compared to 21% of US adults in 2012 and 16% of adults in 2003. The phenomenon is most common among young people. Nearly 40% of Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 have a tattoo.
Tattoo inks do not require FDA testing or pre-approval before being made available to the public. The limited research conducted on popular tattoo inks has revealed that there is a lack of consistency and standardization among inks (suggesting slapshot and dangerous manufacturing conditions) and that these inks sometimes include massive amounts of heavy metals and other dangerous materials, which can and do seep into the bloodstream. Tattoos can contain so much heavy metal that they can interfere with an MRI.
The huge spike in tattoo rates is most noticeable among women. More than 50% of women between the ages 18 to 49 today have at least one tattoo. Pregnant women being exposed to heavy metals has a serious impact on their children in the womb, potentially causing major and lifelong developmental problems. Just like with marijuana de-criminalization, the impact of tattoos becoming so commonplace during the last few years will likely be felt for decades in the form of generations of kids with lower IQs and higher rates of developmental disabilities, along with other serious challenges. We’re poisoning future Americans at a mass scale by ending these taboos.
Tattoos are also linked to a number of antisocial behaviors. According to a comprehensive study, men with tattoos were over 2.5 times more likely to be arrested, 1.8 times more likely to be convicted, and twice as likely to be incarcerated compared to men without tattoos. Women with tattoos faced 1.75 times higher odds of being arrested, 1.68 times higher odds of being convicted, and 1.9 times higher odds of being incarcerated compared to women without tattoos.
Tattoos are like a broken window on a person’s body and society at large.
Pernicious ink! My annual anti-tattoo post.

If you see a doodle, don't let her touch your noodle!

Tattooed chicks are hot and I don’t even know why.

Tattoos are graffiti. Like fine architecture, a beautiful woman can be ruined by graffiti. Also like graffiti, if you leave one up, more will follow.

Clean smooth skin is a sign of good physical and mental health. Women covered in tattoos look and act toxic. It's a giant red flag(avoid at all costs), same as toxic hair colors.

Trashy people/neighborhoods are typically covered in trash.

My experience has been they're great, I mean awesome lays, but in 100 percent of the cases are they ever mentally and emotionally unstable. And the tattoos really looked stupid and covered what were lovely bare legs and thighs. Oh well, they make for great war stories at the bar at least.

Strong correlation with tattoos and insecurities and antisocial behavior. Its why you find lots of bikers (the actual rough/criminal variety) with tats. they are insecure as fuck but do drugs and drink to mask it and come across as hard asses.

Had a lady fren once who kept gettin tats. She was a very striking blond 9/10 that attracted a lot of attention wherever she went. I told her after her first to not get more as she was a natural beauty and didnt need any tattoos. To be kind to herself. First tattoo was on her ankle. She got drunk with some girl friends on a bender in a city aways away. I lived country then by a small town. Long story short she comes back and she has chest tattoos. Totally destroyed her chest. The tattoos were also very badly done. Totally destroyed her then after that she kept getting more and more and eventually it was to much and it was time move on. Lady didnt care what a man had to say to her even if he didnt raise his voice. Trust me she regrets everyone of those tattooos and she did so even then having designs cover up tattoos she no longer liked. To this day she probably is still getting tattoos to cover tattoos. I know one for sure she covered and that was my initials on her left breast. If it is still there well then i wouldnt know so i assume its been.

I am married to a beauty with zero tattoos and a complete winner and been married 20+

I can see why some want tattooos but i personally watched a gorgeous women destroy herself tattoo by tattoo so from my perapective i have always viewed them as more destructive then a positive. I would encourage ladies to think carefully about covering their natural beauty with ink.

Seeing young ladies full of grace and beauty with ugly tattoos all over makes me think of a time gone by that i wish i had more courage and less manners to speak up a bit more loudly and maybe put some sense in to that women

Not particularly proud of this but I broke up with a girl once because she got a tattoo. I didn’t even care at all but for like two months leading up to it, it’s all she would talk about and me, being the contrarian that I am, got it into my head that it would be funny if I ended things right after she got it and told her I didn’t like tattoos. The look on her face was fucking priceless but it also made me (rightfully) look like a bit of an ass to a bunch of other people which I cared more about at the time. I must have been 23-24. I kind of chuckle when I think about it. one of those memories you kind of just shake your head at

There are tattoos that look kind of cool, and then there's the ones that millennial women are getting. They might as well be asking the "artist" to just doodle on them, since that is what it looks like. And guys are not immune, I have seen shitty millennial guy tattoos too.

Having a tattoo shows just how little intelligence you have, it's an excellent gauge. The more tattoos = less self confidence and more retardation.

I remember back in Basic, the morons wanted to get our platoon number tattooed on our wrists (yeah, lets be just like Jewish prisoners!). One moronic Italian descent got a stallion on his shoulder... not even sure he made it through BMQ he was so emotional.

If I like a picture that much, I'll put it up on my wall, or use it as my desktop wallpaper... why would I mark myself?

I have said it before and I will say it again, tattoos look trashy.

Hey its your body, do what you want. I know some of you have tattoos - they have been around forever. But this is different.

The mainstream acceptance of tattoos is just one symptom of larger problem.

Look around - how many fat people are there? People addicted to drugs and alcohol? Sexual deviants? Childless 40 year olds playing with Legos? People with clown coloured hair and ugly ass tats everywhere.

When I see this shit I see a people that has no longer any self control. No care for the future, their children, or their way of life.

The product of well-meaning but coddling parents that wanted to be their kids' 'friend' when they should have taught them the ways of the world.

We are soft and weak and fat, we have never been more so than now. And the third world is flooding in to seize everything our ancestors built.

Now lets talk about scars. I got a few but not by choice. 0 tattoos however.

Why is it women never have scars like we men do? Tell u the truth i am glad they dont.

i have a couple. idgaf what y'all think about that..they're probably older than many of you fuckers anyway. i would have probably gotten more, but i'd rather pay my bills than live in a cardboard box.

i always tell my husbeast if he really loved me he'd get my name tattooed on his neck. haha.

I don’t think a couple tats are the end of the world, I just wish that every female under 30 didn’t feel the need to look like the wall of a truck stop urinal.

i dont take it personally...mostly i just wonder how these girls are paying for that shit. ink gets pricey, unless you are letting your friends do arts and crafts on you when you're drunk, which is what a lot of this modern shit looks like.

i've also met a lot of older (60+) ladies getting them...usually its after the passing of the husband, something to memorialize him by, which i find sentimental and sweet, but to each their own.

Had an uncle who had a tattoo of a snake strangling a bunny. The oddest tat until you realize the backstory. He had a girlfriend named Bunny so he got a tattoo of a Bunny; one day he came home to find her in bed with another man so now there is a snake.

I can just imagine your husbands reaction, "I'm not getting bitch tattooed on my neck!"

no. i want my full name, not just my nickname...more letters=more love. he just doesnt love me enough...actually...its a joke* between my one sister and i about our husband's getting our names on their necks and we'd probably divorce their asses if they did. unless one is getting their kids' name, name tattoos are just a very bad idea unless someone is dead.

*met up with my former elementary bestie and the bitch brought her husband, who had her name on his neck...ever since then we remind them they just dont love us enough. never gets old.

Yea the anti tattoo sounds like a bunch of boomer banter about shit that people dont understand. If you dont like them then mind your own fucking business, shit really people complain about everything these days.

Hey you want to look like this fine,

But don't expect me not to laugh.

If you like the idea/artistry of tattoos but don't like the associated health effects, moral conflict or permanence, I recommend henna or jagua. Both are natural, plant based inks that stain the skin temporarily (last 1-3 weeks). You can create very intricate designs that fade away naturally, and I think it looks pretty cool tbh.
