MFW Air Canada strikes and I haven’t flown since covid

Pretty funny that they are defying the back to work order. If I ever flew anywhere…but I don’t.

Well this is an illegal strike now so Air Canada should just fire them all en masse, but they won't of course, they'll just cave and Carney will bail them out.

Illegal strike is a BS concept. You can't force people to work. As someone who dislikes unions, the workers should be able to hold out if they want to.

At the same time, with or without a union, employers should be able to fire anyone anytime that they want. If AC wants to replace their whole staff, go for it. Or they can choose to pay up.

The one thing that's clear to me is being a flight attendant isn't worth it. The women that do it could easily make more money as a waitress at a high end restaurant, even at the Keg. What a pain in the ass it must be to be a waitress in the sky. Such a shit job. They should be paid more, but it should be because no one would take the job in the first place unless it pays 80k guaranteed a year.

Union prob the only thing keeping airlines from hiring TFWs as flight attendants.

Also lots of gay men are flight attendants!

On the one hand, I totally get wanting to get paid for "ground work". On the other hand, they signed up fully understanding that this was how the pay was structured and they agreed to it. They could have said no and stuck to being a waitress.

The other problem at play is that Canadian Airlines are another typical Canadian oligopoly and there is no push or desire to break it up. Westjet and Air Canada are your only choice, unless you feel like gambling on a discount airline that might not exist next week. There is no desire or motivation to do better.
