EU proposal to scan all private messages gains momentum

With 19 EU member states backing it, the Chat Control proposal could mandate pre-encryption message scanning on apps like WhatsApp and Signal by October.
A controversial European Union proposal dubbed “Chat Control” is regaining momentum, with 19 out of 27 EU member states reportedly backing the measure.

The plan would mandate that messaging platforms, including WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram, must scan every message, photo and video sent by users starting in October, even if end-to-end encryption is in place, popular French tech blogger Korben wrote on Monday.

Denmark reintroduced the proposal on July 1, the first day of its EU Council presidency. France, once opposed, is now in favor, Korben said, citing Patrick Breyer, a former member of the European Parliament for Germany and the European Pirate Party.

Belgium, Hungary, Sweden, Italy and Spain are also in favor, while Germany remains undecided. However, if Berlin joins the majority, a qualified council vote could push the plan through by mid-October, Korben said.
Your climate lockdowns also require chat control.

pre-encryption
Well... I guess there's no point using encryption then.

The plan would mandate that messaging platforms, including WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram, must scan every message, photo and video sent by users starting in October, even if end-to-end encryption is in place,
That would be the end of those apps.

The authoritarianism on full display here. They aren't even trying to hide it anymore. They really want to crack down on the Native Europeans that oppose mass migration and the current thing.

This is Operation Lockstep.

Encryption has been broken for a while now. Major chat app companies all gave up their private keys. This has been going on for much longer than people realize.

Back in the day mid to late 90s I think or early 2000s blackberry gave the 'master key' to the RCMP for BBM.

LOL this is more about striking fear into your hearts so you self censor than it is about being actually productive in silencing those who are speaking freely.

They don't have the manpower to enforce this on such a large scale. They will simply rely on the optics of a perp walk to make examples of folks to make you monitor your own words an critiques.

Here's the problem you face. You either cower in fear of this sort of tactic or you simply keep speaking out. You have more to lose by keeping silent than you do by speaking up. It's an easy probability to weigh out. Suffer now or suffer later.

Okay so put your phone down and go out and talk to people.

"The phrase "grass mud horse" (草泥马 - cǎo ní mǎ) in Chinese is a play on words that sounds similar to a vulgar curse, "fuck your mother" (操你妈 - cào nǐ mā). It originated as a form of online resistance against government censorship in China."

Looks like it's time for Europe to import some grass mud horses. Buck Yew Your Up!

This is no different from them opening every piece of mail and reading it before sending it along to the recipient. Truly insane times we're witnessing.

The difference between this and reading mail is that reading everyone's mail is hard to do, this is much easier. You have to remember governments tend not only to totalitarianism but also laziness, it's something to use against them.
