Conservative MP Michelle Rempel Garner is accusing the federal government of deliberately withholding key immigration data from Canadians, saying the Liberals are hiding the consequences of their “irresponsible, failed” policies.

Conservative MP Michelle Rempel Garner is accusing the federal government of deliberately withholding key immigration data from Canadians, saying the Liberals are hiding the consequences of their “irresponsible, failed” policies.

In a statement released Wednesday, Rempel Garner, the Opposition’s immigration critic, said Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has not published any public immigration datasets since Mark Carney became prime minister in March — breaking with long-standing practice.

“How many illegal border crossings have we had? How many more asylum claims have piled on to an already backlogged waitlist?” she said. “How many more permits have the Liberals handed out that continue to overwhelm our housing, healthcare system and job market?”

Rempel Garner said the public has a right to know the scope of immigration activity and accused the Liberal government of dodging accountability.

She demanded that Carney resume regular data releases so Canadians can assess the immigration system for themselves.

“Conservatives call on Mark Carney and the Liberals to be straightforward with Canadians,” she said.

Michelle looks awful, she should lay off the boosters.

My neighbourhood suddenly has a massive amount of Somalians or what appear to be Somalians. Our neighbourhood watch is very concerned as their numbers are way greater then ours. They seem to stroll through our streets and alleys in large groups and are very out of place. They do this in the evenings generally. Scouting maybe? Just out for a walk?

We have dealt with all types of crime but one type of crime we have not gamed for is swarming crime. It feels like this is a likely scenario but maybe they will leave as we let them know they are being watched and followed.

Where does a small army of these people just come from out of the blue?

@ex_libris it is possible. People here are very decodant. They do not feel that anything will change. They believe the police will handle things.

shootings are occuring as well as violent home invasions. 3 murders in less then 1 year.

assaults are up, assaults with a weapon up, robbery up, theft over 5000 up, vehicle theft nightly

place is going to hell quick. Lrt is going to be operating soon nearby. Things are going to get worse i fear.

In Britain they refer to the tendency of groups of African/Middle Eastern immigrants to purposelessly hang around on the streets as "milling", and whenever you see it it's a clear indication that the area is going to shit. It's possible that some scouting is also involved, but usually it's just an instinctive behaviour like baboons congregating at a watering hole

@border_humper to many fixer uppers. Anything well done is out of budget.

I had a place it was perfect top of a hill and views for miles minor work needed to be done. Big deck and walk out basement. 2 story. No shop but easy to add one for a reasonable amount if i did it myself. Even had a creek to go down and fishing in. Perfect place 4 acres.

We drove to it and took a look. Wife loved it at first then we discoverd It had train tracks 150 yards behind the house. Wife was like i am not living by train tracks. Now we keep looking. Drive was 35 min to work too which is reasonable. I should have just put the foot down but happy wife right = ??

How was not making immigration an election issue any less irresponsible than what the Libs are doing. They pretend to be loud and steadfast when it doesn't matter, only to run and hide when its time to actually say or do something.
