I like some good pancakes, not gonna lie. Waffles are crisper and hold the syrup better.

Pancakes are just small cakes. They're good anytime.

Yeasted overnight-fermented waffles are a different story. They get crispy, have great flavor but need prep-time.

It depends on the sides/toppings.

Waffles (if done correctly(slight crisp)) are structurally capable of holding more toppings. They can be cut in fours and eaten by hand like a pizza. For more protein, substitute whipped cream for vanilla greek yogurt(I prefer Oikos Vanilla).

Pancakes can be stacked with layers of goodness in between. They also absorb more. Peanut butter and chocolate are my go to. Pro tip: sprinkle chocolate chips between two warm pancakes, allow time to melt, then spin the top pancake 1/4 turn to get even coverage.

Both pair well with a chocolate protein shake((I usually add coffee to mine)keep the temp below 70° or you will cook the whey(65° is perfect)). Can be cold also, Iced coffee is great in the summer.

I absolutely love pancakes for dinner. I rarely let myself have them though. I'd be a fatass if I ate them all the time.

Excellent points. We dont eat em all the time for dinner because of those same reasons but tonight no one wants the usual stuff so we working on a plan. Perhaps i shall have to make both as you made us hungry for both and your chocolate chip tip has my kids wanting to try it

If you have fresh berries. Take the extra time to make a jam/sauce. It's easy, throw it in a pot with some water, render it down, sweeten to taste. Two ingredients, berries and sugar. The longer you render it, the thicker it gets, no need to add corn starch or additional emulsifiers.

It takes everything to the next level.

We are doing both in the end. Everyones suggestions were awesome. Kids were a bit worried one would win over the other. I enjoy teasing em sometimes. Waffles and pancakes it is!

I personaly prefer pancakes as you can stack em in layers and between the layers you can be creative and then drizzle a sauce or syrup on top. Top it with some wipped cream.

I need a waffle iron that is easier to clean plus i have to use oil all the time between making em or they stick. Damn you Cuisinart why cant u make a decent waffle iron.

Anyone have a suggestion for a good waffle iron by the way?

You can only get belgian waffle makers now, too deep. Go on ebay or etsy to find a standard waffle iron to get the thin and crispy waffles of our youth. Pecan pieces are nice in the waffle batter.

are you preheating your iron long enough and making sure its getting back to temp between waffles? and if it was coated, did you scrub the shit out of it so that everything sticks now? i usually only clean mine if it gets royally fuct...just wipe off the crumbs and put it away...when i go to use it again i just brush it with a little oil then wipe it well or make a small "test waffle" to feed the dog or birds with to get any gunk out that i missed.

Yeasted waffles and giant German pancakes with lemon and powdered sugar.

My wife made sour dough pancakes recently. They were pretty tasty.

Her sour dough, beer, cherries, chocolate and peanut butter have kept me a little doughy this summer. My abs are still in hibernation despite my increased activity level. It's true, you can't out train a bad diet.

'you can't outrun your fork' is the cruelest truth of all. you feel like the extra working out, cardio etc whatever you're doing means you can eat a little looser but nah, the body is incredibly efficient and stores calories easily and burns them slowly. ever experimented with fasting? I did it a few times recently and man something I'm going to do more in the future, real game changer in so many ways.

@Hirudinea so true, I heard a funny reframe about that, rather than thinking damn I did an hour of cardio and only burned 300 calories, you can think damn with only 300 calories I can go hard for an hour. the body is crazy efficient, just doesn't benefit us in most cases at this moment in time

i love max's videos. i keep thinking i might get his book, but then i remind myself i'm on a cookbook moratorium.

Yeah, his videos are good. And if you're not above piracy and have an EBook reader, or like squinting at your phone, you can download is book.
