Seems like Election Canada is following your suggestion.

I wonder how many ballots will be rejected because of a spelling error of Poilievre's name.

From the people who brought you “Fortifying Democracy”: the 200 candidate ballot.

I'm interested to know what you guys think, but I actually think this longest ballot thing might not be such a bad thing. In the past they have done this to candidates from other parties, including bloc, lib, and green. Curiously, not NDP. The leader of the org "seems" to be non-partisan as well. I can't find any political association or bias, maybe you know something I don't?

Either way, the current threshold to get on the ballot in Canada is 100 signatures I believe. If this was raised, to either be a set number or a percentage of the population, it would help to avoid these type of situations. So say, 1000 signatures to get on a ballot, or if the riding is less than 20,000 people say, maybe they need 2% of the riding's population worth of signatures. I was speaking with other people online about this group and after researching it a bit, while I found what they are doing annoying, I can kind of see their point.

Thoughts?

So what happens if Polievre loses this one? Is he done?

Is this how our elections will be rigged from now on? It exposes Canadian elections for the joke they are.

How many ballots will be rejected because they spell Poilievre's name wrong? All of them. This is a fix, PP is totally fucked. Oh and whatever you think of PP this is a direct affront to any pretense of Democracy in Canada.
