UK to lower voting age.

I thought that one of the big pushes in democracy was that the electorate should be educated (stop laughing). You don't even have your grade 12 at age 16. This is nothing more than them putting their thumb on the scale to introduce more low IQ, dumb (read: left) votes to further rig elections.

I cannot think of a worse British PM in my lifetime, and the competition is fierce.

Does this not have to go through parliament, senate, royal ascent, etc.?

In a July petition introduced to the House of Commons by Liberal MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, Liberals are pushing for the voting age for federal elections to be reduced from 18 years old to 16 years old, arguing that youth need a voice in society.

“Sixteen and seventeen-year-olds across Canada are already taking on real responsibilities, from working part-time jobs and paying taxes, to driving, volunteering, and taking on family responsibilities,” the petition stated.

“Young Canadians are informed, thoughtful, and actively involved in their schools, communities, and movements that shape our country’s future,” it continued.

“Extending the voting age to 16 would empower a new generation to participate in democracy while still in school, where habits of civic engagement are more easily built and supported,” the petition declared.

Interestingly, the Liberals’ push to decrease the voting age in Canada comes at a time when young Canadians are increasingly voting Conservative.

The only reason these Commies are pushing for this is 16 year olds are emotional and easy to manipulate. It's an easy way to expand their voter base.
 
Maybe there should be some sort of critical thinking test that everyone has to pass in order to be eligible to vote...regardless of age. Impractical, but probably the most effective way to ensure that voters are actually competent to vote. I get why we have age restrictions on drinking, voting, driving, etc, because there certainly is a bit of correlation between overall "maturity" and age. And that's the easiest way to separate MOST of the population, BUT it would be interesting if there was an overall test to determine whether you're actually capable of making a rational decision. Imagine the shock of a 30yr-old emotionally driven Karen when she realizes that a based 16yr old is more capable of making a solid decision in an election than she is.

Along with other factors of course - being a taxpayer, owning property, whatever.

The Uniparty in the UK is panicking because Reform would win a majority of seats if an election were to be held today, and despite that party's many flaws it primarily draws its support from older indigenous British people, who have mostly abandoned the Tories. Another way the establishment is hoping to forestall this eventuality is by switching to a system of proportional representation
