He didn't botch anything people didn't like Trudeau once he was gone people went right back to liberals. I wish people would quit saying that stupid shit cuz it's not true.

You guys pretend to sit here like Canada hasn't been run by fucking liberals for basically a hundred fucking years but just like 8 years of Harper.

The guy came very close to winning and the only lost by a thousand or less votes in areas. The guy almost beat the NDP the liberals all those voters combined under the liberals this time plus The perfect Storm with trump and the media attacking him 24/7 which still works in Canada.

Stop blaming others when it's just your country that's fucked up.

Short answer: about ~70% of the time.

Over roughly the last 100 years, the Liberal Party of Canada has formed the federal government for around 65–70 years, making them by far the most frequent governing party in Canada.

Big-picture breakdown (approximate)

From 1921 to today:

Liberals: ~65–70 years in government

Conservatives (including Progressive Conservatives): ~30–35 years

Others (CCF/NDP, etc.): 0 years forming federal government

Why the Liberals dominate

A few structural reasons:

They’ve often positioned themselves as a centrist “broker” party, able to absorb swings left or right

They tend to recover faster after losses than Conservatives

Conservatives have historically split (PC vs Reform/Alliance) which cost them power for long stretches

Long uninterrupted Liberal runs (e.g. Mackenzie King and Trudeau era) heavily skew the numbers

Notable long Liberal stretches

1921–1930 (King)

1935–1957 (King + St-Laurent)

1963–1984 (Pearson + Pierre Trudeau, with brief interruption)

1993–2006 (Chrétien + Martin)

2015–present (Justin Trudeau)

If you want, I can:

Break it down year-by-year

Compare popular vote vs time in power

Or show how this compares to other democracies (UK, US, Australia)

Don't forget that they have been historically supported by Quebec, which is why they are so enslaved to it. That and the fact that the Liberal party's prime directive is power at any cost. I really wonder what Canada could have become if it weren't for the Liberal defacto dictatorship?

@Hirudinea well people got the memories of goldfish on the left and right. I remember the one reason Harper even got to forum government was because of the carbon tax that liberals wanted to do. So what the hell happened in just 10 fucking years even more than that 12 I guess by the time you count true election in a vote and then when pm retard toke power

Even doing Harper's 8 years or 10 I can't remember he only had a minority for two of them. People in Canada want to vote liberal they want any excuse to keep voting liberal.

Hell I know a lady she's dead now well I don't know her but she's in my extended family or was she was still voting liberal because of the baby bonus so it's like you're still voting for the same fucking party for something they literally did 50 years ago.

80% of people who vote liberal don't even know why they do it they just always been voting liberals their whole life so they'll keep it up.

Plus in Canada is matters more where the votes are and not the amount. The two minorities Trudumb won the cons actually had more votes but were not spread out enough to win.

The other thing is Ontario east usually loves the liberals. I should not really say all Ontario but the Golden Horseshoe/Toronto area that loves liberals.

Liberal voters could no longer publically support Trudeau. Switch him out and its back to business as usual. The total trainwreck of a lost decade means nothing to them, basically we are the problem for pointing it out.

The liberal exists in 2 week bursts where they are always righteous and the liberal party is always correct. For them team Canada and the LPC are functionally the same thing.

Ah, yes. If only the blue liberals didn't have PP, then surely they would have beat the red liberals.

Canadians got EXACTLY what they voted for with Trudeau. Trudeau did exactly what he said he would. Trudeau did a great job at providing Canadian voters what they wanted. The problem is that most Canadians don't understand that the very problems they have with Canada are actually caused by the very things they vote for. It's not a leader problem, it's a fundamental values problem. Canadians decided that instead of realizing that they themselves were the very creators of their own problems, they decided to blame Trudeau for all their problems despite voting for him. This is probably why Trudeau got so bitter by the end of his rule because he was hated for doing exactly what the people wanted. Canadians never smartened up. They used Trudeau as s scapegoat and then as soon as he was gone, Canadians doubled-down on all the things they previously voted for.

PP stood no chance. Canadians are their own worst enemy. And let's be really honest here, PP's government would have been marginally better than Carney's. PP is just a less radical liberal but his fundamental values align with liberalism. For Canadians that actually wanted real change, there was no one to vote for.

PP who botched a 40 point lead over the Libs some how got the vote to remain the party leader of the cons.

People are so dumb. Dont worry all he will get em next time
d01tg0d0wnHes the only reason Liberals don't have a majority. Its a miracle they never got it with the entire media campaigning and psyoping the Canadian public with covid style theatrics to give one to Marx Carney.
