Many Indian families, who budget carefully for study abroad, now compare Canada unfavourably with Germany, Italy and Australia, whose university brochures crowd consultants’ desks in Indian cities.
“I wanted to go to Canada, but the recent changes in international student policies, visa restrictions and post-study work opportunities have made me think more carefully about my options,” Ms. Thakur, 22, a third-year biochemistry honours student at Panjab University, in the northern city of Chandigarh, told The Globe and Mail.
Geopolitics is partly to blame.
“Canada has become a bit more challenging for the Indian students. The diplomatic rapprochement doesn’t really make any difference to me when the large section of the population has turned hostile toward Indians. It would surely help in feeling more secure as a student though,” said Rohan Sawant, a first-year commerce student at Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai.

Never considered your time spent shitposting as time wasted.
