Is new Quebec Premier Plamondon based?

Damn if they're for real starting to like this party myself.

Parti Québécois Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon is insisting he can take office without swearing an oath to the King — even if the secretary general of the legislature has told him otherwise.

The PQ leader has vowed not to pledge allegiance to King Charles III, to whom elected members must swear an oath before they can sit in the legislature. Members are required to swear two oaths before taking office: one to the King and another to the Quebec people.

St-Pierre Plamondon, leader of a sovereigntist party that advocates for Quebec’s independence from Canada — and from colonial procedures and traditions — told reporters Monday he sent letters to the leaders of the three other parties that won seats in the Oct. 3 election, asking for their support.

“We are faced with a question that goes beyond the usual divisions and traditional political parties,” St-Pierre Plamondon told a news conference in Quebec City, adding he was confident if each elected member was asked privately, the vast majority would find taking the oath “embarrassing and humiliating.”

Its probably more social engineering than grassroots culture but Quebec has the right idea when talking about the preservation of the Quebecois people.

One of the reasons I think so many Anglos resent Quebecers is because they know down deep inside that English Canada is more than willing to surrender their way of life to the will of foreigners.

That said, i am about 95% convinced that the political separation tactic is just that - a tactic to get more money from the Feds.

For the life of me I can't figure out why every province doesn't have some version of a bloc party.

Seems like the only way Canada will work for a province is if it threatens to leave, kind of like an abusive relationship.

It works for Quebec because they're big enough to still impact Ontario. With Quebec and Ontario together, the rest of the provinces can and will be ignored.

I also don't think the rest of the provinces understand who to be as smart as Quebec does. Just look at how poorly Alberta seperation is going to go and they're the best hope for it outside of Quebec.

I'd move there so fast if I didn't hate their accent, way of life, contempt for their true King and our mutual enmity.

That said, I respect almost everything they do as a province. They are great at getting what they want in the end.
