• A prayer of the Rosary
(make the sign of the cross)

————————— Our Father —————————
Our Father, Who art in heaven; hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is
in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive
us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass
against us, and lead us not into temptation; but deliver
us from evil. Amen.

Have you read the book of Enoch?

I have read some of it, I consider The Book of Enoch a non-Canonical mystic jewish text. Daddy Pope is infallible

Hard to say honestly, our history is a lot older than our texts lead us to believe, and perhaps the Old Testament was taken from previous cultures pre younger dryas events.

@Glowie Yes probably, verbal tradition lasts only about 1000 years unless it is written down. Past that is usually explained in heroes, myth and archetypes. A good symbolic example is dragons and armies of locust from the Bible and Crusade era. That commonly refers to Idolatrous Persians or later Muslim armies

Dumb question. There are a number of different Bibles out there. The Catholics use one and there is the King James, Orthodox and other bibles. Is there a big difference in them?

I know the KJV also uses I am not sure if this is the right word but 'old English" but the Catholic one is written in modern English. Plus Catholics include a few more books the Anglicans do not I believe. I heard the 10 commandments are different.

I assume the Catholic Bible is the first one since they were the first Christian Religion I believe. . or do I need to brush up on history?

According to my online search there are over 450 different Bibles, Like why so many? Would not the first one be the only 'correct' one?

I usually do not discuss Religion as growing up I seen conflicts in my family. When I was a kid we went to an alliance Church then after my parents split my mom joined the Catholic Church and was pissed none of us 3 kids wanted to join so we went and lived with dad. That actually tore the family apart as my maternal grandmother was a hard core Anglican and my maternal great Aunts were hard core Evangelists nut at different churches, ones church they used to talk in tongues. I even went to their churches a few times growing,. They were all against my mom joining the Catholic Church and went years without talking..,.. I was never baptised and have not been to a church since I was a teen other than for funerals and weddings.

I have a NIV bible that doesn't include the 7 Deuterocanon books written before Christ. We can use any copy of the bible but prefer standard English translations and still use Latin at some masses for prayer. KJV has too many ye's and durst's and shew's for my taste. The New Testament is written in Greek, the old testament is written in Hebrew. There are words in the English versions that get lost in translation. Eg, Hashem, Adonai, Kyrios, Elohim, El Shaddai and Abba just get translated into LORD, Lord, or God. My father is Baptist and my mother is a Pagan but baptized like me Catholic. I converted 4 years ago now after I met a Catholic Priest. If you want to go to a Mass at Catholic church you can any time, it's a nice place to think

The Pope traces his succession to the first Bishop of Rome, the Apostle Peter. See where Christ says in Matthew 16:18 "you are Peter(the rock), and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." The Roman and Byzantine churches split on a difference of Popes and Patriarchs at the council of Trent in 1058. This was about 4 decade before the first crusade was called to protect Pilgrims on their way to the Holy land of Jerusalem. I finished reading "The two swords of Christ" by Raymond Ibrahim it covers a few centuries after this time up to the fall of Acre. [Martin Luther started his own church after 1521.]
