Tired of hosting

Anyone else sick of hosting Christmas for family members who have never and will never host anything ever? Sick of the freeloaders. Its been 16 years and I had enough of them. /rant

We never host because most of my family are asthmatics and we have cats and dogs. We bring as much as we can and usually hang around long enough to help clean up. Sorry.

We alternate with the in laws every year, either Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve. I’d prefer it to always be at my place because the food is pretty basic there and it’s small so we all cram. At my place, we serve what we like and it’s comfortable. I don’t drink, but I could since I don’t have to drive anywhere.

In short, it’s time and money and effort to host, but nice to be in control and comfortable.

Between the 3 kids and the dog it has become easier for everybody to come to me. All the family I had that I liked is long since dead, so now every Christmas I am stuck playing nice with a half dozen retards that I really can't stand.

I may have reconsidered marriage and fatherhood had I realized those things would cause a reemergence of certain other people.

kramerAre you my father-in-law? Hah, we were the only ones who brought food, like turkeys, to try and help. But the wife and I agreed that it’s time for Christmas morning be at our house. Nice and quiet with just our kids.

We always host Christmas, except once in the last 12 years.

We are the only ones who have kids besides my brother, who we alternate travel with each year to visit after Christmas Mass, a dog (previously more than one) and my mother and mother in law live close.

So it just makes sense for us to host. We normally do an all day breakfast, bacon, eggs, pancakes, sausages, home fries, fruit, veggies, toast rather than a turkey dinner, but we are mixing it up this year and doing charcuterie boards and appetizers all day instead.

Sounds like you are ready for a Hibachi Christmas. The chefs dont celebrate Christmas so they are available and ready to come to your home.

I hear its a good time and can be done in your living room. Prep with some pre
Hibachi rice wine / alcohol and let the chef walk you through the flavors of Japan.
