Every strip mall has no parking and is covered in tents, traffic is a nightmare, the fireworks have begun since last night, and every house is lit up like a space ship all night long.
BIG FIREWORKS WARNING on all news stations this morning for Surrey, lol!

Reading that comment thread it boggles my mind to learn that the "celebrations" -- or displays of ethnic dominance, whichever -- are even taking place in Herring Cove, a picturesque fishing village that just a few years ago was at the furthest end of Halifax Transit's bus line:

Apparently the NS fire ban has expired for the season, at least when it comes to nighttime pyrotechnics. What a shame that Diwali wasn't in August so we could have witnessed the cognitive dissonance
