@gtgooh: I've met quite a few Indians (presumably second- or third-generation) who're very well assimilated, both middle- and working-class (one guy had a thick Glace Bay accent, which freaked me out a bit). But I'm no longer sure that degree of acculturation is possible anymore -- what is there left to assimilate to? It might still be possible in places that are overwhelmingly white, but those are now getting fewer and farther between
