CBC releases “Animal Pride” documentary on “incredibly queer” racoons, mushrooms

Canada’s national broadcaster released a documentary attempting to prove that nature is “queer.”

“You wouldn’t imagine it but racoons are so queer,” said Bastos.

“Think of your typical nuclear family you know, you’ve got the one parent, the second parent, that structured, binary, ugh, turn it on its head. Racoons are out here redesigning and reshaping the way that they’re parenting and raising their young.”

While scientists have observed same-sex sexual behaviour amongst animals, the contention that such behaviour resembles human homosexual behaviour is contended, much less human notions of “queerness.” Furthermore, the vast majority of animals do not engage in same-sex sexual behaviour.

Nevertheless, Bradwell points to animals that are hermaphrodites like slugs as an example of queer animals, making the comparison to gender fluidity. They also describe an anemone’s reproduction as asexual reproduction.

So by this logic, since some animals eat literal shit, it's perfectly fine for humans too also! Animals are also known to kill one another - chimps will kill the offspring of other males, as will lions. It's all good!

I saw one male dog mounting another male dog as a sign of domination. The top dog was not allowing the bottom dog to express any sign of homophobia.
 
I once saw a dominant rooster rape a submissive one. After the act was complete the submissive rooster went over to a clump of bushes and hid his head in it for a long time. It was one of the saddest things I've ever witnessed

I honestly hope that farmers will take inspiration from this and, knowing that gender is merely a construct, start buying pairs of bulls when they are planning to breed cattle... somebody needs to break the stranglehold that cisheteronormativity has had over farming for the past 10,000 years
