How is X a Thing?

I made an X account. Followed some people. Started posting... literally get 0 engagement. What's the point of X? It seems like it's just a way for like 100 influencers to jerk themselves off.

On the contrary, I made a reddit account. Posted. got like 10 engagements, ended up banned all within 5 minutes. Reddit is gay but at least there's engagement. There's nothing on X.

I have an X and rarely post due to being banned in the past lol and really only signed up to view some people I like.

It just annoys me. Everyone posts controversial stuff then disappears. Like, do you want to discuss it or what's the point? I think it's almost like a "venting" service. Like people that yell in the woods to let their anger out. X seems to be a modern technically advanced version of the same. There just no discussion on it whatsoever and the second a discussion starts, the other guy will block you.

CaptainTroubleThink of how many posts there are per second taking place on the website, and think of how many new accounts there are per day. Did you really expect to have a new account, make one post, and get the same engagement as somebody who posts 10 times a day and has had an account for 10 years?

How many comments? How many comments in the thread you replied to?

There's a lot of people on there.

I only comment on X a few times per day at most. I've had a few comments blow up but most get a handful of likes, and plenty get zero attention because there are many people saying pretty much the same thing.

Are you saying/doing anything worth engaging with?

Why is anyone posting anything if they aren't going to engage with someone who replies to what they said and especially if they themselves were a reply to something someone else said.

Literally an echo chamber of people talking to themselves.

The smartphone was the death of the internet. It lowered the IQ ceiling for participating in the internet so much that it became mainstream. With the mainstreaming came monetization, and with monetization came all this gayness.

I recall back in the mid-90s that America On-Line users -- mostly North American suburbanites who were new to computers, and who had been lured onto the internet by free floppies containing the simple AOL software -- were regarded as a harbinger of doom by the high-IQ geeks who had previously dominated cyberspace. Smartphones later dumbed things down another few notches, as you mention, and today of course we are experiencing the massive jeet invasion that may well end up turning the entire internet experience into the equivalent of the Calcutta metro at rush hour

I got a Twitter (X is a stupid name) account just to see what the fuck is going on and I don't really use it that much, 5 minutes a day or two, but I already have followers, why I don't know, so maybe just be more of a smart ass?

I have a Twitter account (though I'm not a serious user) and what I've noticed is that you get a lot of obvious bots following you, especially ones with profile pictures of beautiful women supposedly "looking for love" who have never posted anything -- I have no idea what particular scam they happen to represent, but they are extremely common. The most "likes" I've ever generated for any single comment is in the low dozens, and even that's pretty rare. As a hobby it might seem pretty pointless, but it can be great fun when you come across random leftists and make their heads explode by telling them the truth: it's like sprinkling vampires with holy water. At the same time of course you can't let yourself get sucked into the bottomless quicksand of arguments with idiots who will never acknowledge reality, so it's best taken in small doses

The hot girl scam is almost always cryptocurrency. You chat for a while, build "trust" then they tell you about some crypto currency they're investing in to make money in hopes you get hooked and want to know more. The "hot girl" might actually be a hot girl too but she's working for herself or some dudes and they've made a crypto where they own all of the crypto. You buy into it and you're buying from them. They take all your money. Your crypto is worthless.

@ChevChelios there seem to be lots of those too. I joined just before the election and regret was almost instant but did not delete so shall see what lessons are learned. The comments do not seem worth the bother for serious discussion. Way too much noise to signal.

you have to use twitter if you want the twitter experience. you need to keep your account active and interact with people. if you are going to make a post like FB and wait for people to come to you your going to have a bad time .you need to build a following of several hundred people before it gets active .the problem i run in to is the normie cons block me and it effects your visibility . turns out zachary tisdale and sunshinebaby dont heil hitler like the rest of my niggas

I like browsing X, have never tried posting because my account is my real name, and my actual opinions would get me banned from working in education, which would be bad for me.

I do keep floating around the idea of making a throwaway, but seems like it wouldn't be worth the effort because of what you talk about. Still, the dream would be making it big enough to make like $500 a week from shitposting.

fuck twitter. i still miss myspace.
