this was sitting in my To Read pile for awhile. its very fucking long. but i think its especially good for the younger ones to read since i think it addresses some shit that i find our current western culture likes to abandon. its a convo that talks about morality, relationships, virtue and other good shit.

and if you dont want to read something this long. dont. idgaf. go watch cat videos.

Excellent read. Lots to think about for myself and in raising the little munchkins in current day with peers that spend so much time online.

I have teens now and the amount of pressure on them to be online and have a smartphone is insane. Parents even attempt to guilt my wife or I to get them online but we politely decline to bend the knee.

My kids are not online and do not have smartphones for obvious = obvious reasons.

Parents do say however that i have some of the nicest boys they have ever met. I wonder why that is.

here is a joke if you will for shits and giggles if we are handing out advice stuff

"... the sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slipper’d pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side;
His youthful hose, well sav’d, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion;
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything."

Social media platforms reduce us to our identity labels or consumer preferences.
I think that there are a lot of young people who either pretend to have some mental illness or legitimately have one, but because of the attention they get through social media because they are "mentally ill", they subconsciously don't want and/or can't get better. Because if they get better and healthier, they will lose the attention.
