Interesting contrast to be sure.
I wonder whether toronto will approve a Christian heritage month. I think they should. If only in the interest of fairness to other religions who have recognition already. The usual arguements against in the debate sound like they are being brought up, but the bias and workery is starting to show the tatters at the edges. I agree that Christianity has a lot of good aspects that should be celebrated and promoted. As the article mentions, a minority of the population of toronto is Christian. The country was built on Christian values which are infused into our society, and while there are dark aspects in the past, that doesn't mean we should forget or not acknowledge those aspects, or try to erase them, but the woke reaction to celebrating the good aspects of Christianity is becoming more and more tiresome. Canada was and is still one of the premiere countries of the world. People WANT to come here. What it is today, even with our current problems, is still something to be celebrated and preserved.
The other article I don't know what to think. I do promote the right to protest and free expression. Organizations being added to the terror list are done so at the leisure of government and are not decisions of and by the public, so the accuracy of the list as a reflection of the publics values may be inaccurate. Not saying I support either side, and I believe both are to blame. It is a long deep and complex conflict going back long before the latest flare up.
Personally I think Israel knew of the attack beforehand and I feel there are false flag indicators to the start of the conflict. The conflict serves several of the interests of zionists.
Should the Hamas leader be allowed to be celebrated or denied like Hitler as per the example in the article..... I don't know. I would lean towards no.
If an Israeli leader were killed and celebrated in the same way, I'd bet there would be less controversy, and likely allowed. I don't think they should be allowed to be celebrated either.
It seems like mississauga will allow the 'vigil'. Their only real issue being the use of poppy imagery which I definitely have an issue with as well. Hopefully the legion gets them to remove it.
War is hell. It should be remembered but not celebrated.
